bullyproof.
8 x 10 gouache on illustration board.
If only we all could be so lucky to have this sort of fierce protection through the primary school years...
During recess I remember distinctly that the playground slide was actually my own personal apatasaurus, but alas, he never came to my rescue. :)
I was inspired by a book of vintage photographs of the Raj while I was working on this piece... far be it from me to flatly romanticize somewhat dark portions of our history, but my my are some of those outfits & fabrics & architectural ornamentation some of the finest in imagination...

This beastie is taking a spanking, judging from his backside...will he begin to trample soon? Or flee? I'd like to see the bullies get what they deserve.
Amazing, as always.

I'm thinking trample? They're awfully quick on their feet, tho. :)

Wow, very impressive!

This is outrageously imaginative and beautifully executed. I, too, could have used the protection in primary school and often dreamed of the emissaries of some handsome prince coming to take me away to my rightful place in life.

Wow, this is wonderfully bizarre. I love the colors and the strange beasties.

So cool. I can't get enough of your art and it's spectacular details. Bully protection would have been nice to have. I think I just turned invisible when trouble reared its head. Metaphorically speaking. Wouldn't have minded trampling a few of those kids tho.

This illustration is curiously wonderful, and bizarre like Connie said. Love it.
